We've been trying for almost 4 years. First two were on our own, then finally went to the RE and got diagnosed - I have PCOS and his SA showed extremely low count and poor morphology. We first tried IUI with ds (4 times), then IVF with ICSI. We did the IUIs first b/c we thought he was the main problem and that maybe I could get pg easily with ds. No luck, so we tried the IVF - I had a chemical pg. As far as we can tell, my eggs are pretty crappy - I respond great to the meds and make tons of follicles, but then nothing goes right from there. So we discussed adoption and were ready to move on when I thought to ask my Dr about donor embryos. We just can't afford to do another IVF and really can't afford to adopt for another year or so. Donor embryo seemed like the best of both worlds - we can afford to try it now and it's like adoption only much earlier. I was very lucky that my clinic was able to find embryos for me only a few months after I expressed interest. The couple that donated them had twins so I have high hopes for the embryos we have.
