Hi...I am 32 with FSH levels of 17 & 21. My fertility specialist has told me that there is nothing that he can do for me with FSH levels so high. He stated that the only option for my husband and I would be an egg donor. Should I go for a second opinion? Or at least try to find a specialist that would try IVF with my FSH levels? I just don't want to give up.

Dear Ricckster,
Keep praying for a miracle! Every birth is a miracle! I continue to remain in the hoping stage myself. We've taken a bit of a break lately, partly for financial reasons, and partily for reasons of sanity. But reading stories like yours definitley keeps me going and I will pray for you. I will pray for all of you! For all of us. My very best. ________ VOLCANO VAPORIZER Last edited by porter : 09-04-2011 at 08:46 AM. |

I am 35 and my recent fsh was 22.5. I was told it was high but normal for my age.
Is this just a glad-handed way of saying I'm too old? ________ Big Tits Webcams Last edited by casham : 08-19-2011 at 03:03 PM. |

I was told by my fertility doc that I have a 5% chance of becoming pregnant w/ ivf because my fsh is 17. He said I have POF (premature ovarian failure) and the fsh might be even higher than bloodtest shows. He is pushing donor because my success will be higher (65%). Anyone know why my fsh is so high... I am only 32 yrs old. Could it be a autoimmune issue? I have had three miscarriages.

Renee,
Sorry, I'm just responding. I never followed up with this forum -I got too busy & forgot about it! Anyway, hope you get this message. My RE did recommend DHEA. My third cycle didn't result in a pregnancy, but we're not giving up! He said it's just a matter of time and he's confident I will get pregnant. I'm due for IVF #4 in June. It's emotinally draining! As you said, I never thought I would have issues (I"m also pretty healthy and fit; however, reproductive health is a different story!) In fact, initially my dh had an issue and within the time span of us dealing medically with that, my fsh rose! Let me know how your cycle went and what's going on if you receive my message! |

Porter,
Thank you. It's finally nice to be chatting with others who understand. I also took a break (4 months). My insurance is up for any more cycles, so we now have to pay out of pocket! I just feel that it has to be worth it, so I'm trying not to let the financial stuff stress me out! Did you here anything about acupuncture, since I'm considering trying it. Thanks for the good wishes, I'll keep you in my prayers, as well . |

Nancy's Mom,
My RE recommended DHEA for me. The research I have done states that it's not advisable to take over-the-counter, since they say that the doc should check your levels first in order to decide the proper dosage. However, as an aside, the case at my clinic led docs to start using DHEA. A woman accidentally came upon it ( over the counter), starting using it, and produced an abundant amount of eggs. In fact, I believe she was in her early 40's. |
