I assume infertility and fertility get used interchangably. One goes to an infertility clinic to deal with fertility problems.
My take.

fp also comes into play with cancer treatments. some chemo and radiation dosis can affect eggs and sperm. so they can harvest them before treatment for use later.

Default This is from ASRM website...

"In the United States there are approximately 800,000
reproductive-aged men and women who have cancer,
many of whom have concerns about their fertility."

This is why one would want to "preserve" their eggs or sperm, I believe.

Does anyone know if there are special needs for a cancer survivor who is looking for an egg donor. I want to find a donor who will give me eggs that can be planted in my uterus. I have received considerable chemo and radiation. I'm wondering if there are any special needs.
Thank you

I just found this post, and just finished posting to another forum that I thought this was type of treatments she was looking for. She wanted egg freezing and I said I thought it was fertility preservation.

Anyone interested should google "fertility preservation." There is a whole separate branch of fertility clinics that speicalize in treatments for cancer patients. It's a relatively new field, so many of the treatment's are labeled "experimental" but they are the best options available at the moment.
